The Khulasa - A Summary of Abu Isa at-Tirmidhi's ash-Shama'il al-Muhammadiyyah

The Khulasa – A Summary of Abu Isa at-Tirmidhi’s Ash-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyyah is a concise and accessible presentation of the celebrated Ash-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyyah of Imam Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi. The original Shama’il is one of the most renowned classical works describing the appearance, character, habits and daily life of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Based primarily on the Moroccan hadith scholar Sheikh Muhammad ‘Abd al-Hayy al-Kattani’s summary, Munyat al-Sa’il, The Khulasa captures the essence of the chapters of Imam al-Tirmidhi’s Shama’il in a compact format. It provides readers with an opportunity to learn about the noble qualities, characteristics and blessed example of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ without having to begin with a lengthy commentary.

Through descriptions of the Prophet’s ﷺ appearance, clothing, food, manner of living, worship, speech, character and other aspects of his blessed life, the work helps readers develop a greater familiarity with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and encourages them to follow his Sunnah.

At a time when many Muslims may feel increasingly distant from the life and example of the Prophet ﷺ, The Khulasa serves as an accessible introduction to the Shama’il tradition. It is particularly suitable for personal reading, Islamic study circles, students of Seerah and Hadith, and anyone wishing to increase their knowledge and love of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
