The second article, again a collection of stories and sayings, highlight the salient features of those who hailed from the rich tradition of the Deoband seminary.

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani (Uthmani)

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani (b. 1943) is a world-renowned Islamic jurist, scholar, and author whose works have inspired millions across the globe. Recognized as one of the most influential Muslim scholars of our time, he is an authority in Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic law, and Islamic economics. A retired judge of the Shari‘a Appellate Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the current President of Wifaq ul Madaris Al-Arabia, Mufti Taqi Usmani has dedicated his life to teaching, writing, and serving the global Muslim community.

With more than 40 years of teaching experience at Darul Uloom Karachi, he has authored over 140 books in Arabic, Urdu, and English. His works cover diverse fields such as Islamic jurisprudence, Qur’anic exegesis, Hadith sciences, Islamic finance, and contemporary issues. Some of his most notable contributions include Takmila Fath al-Mulhim (a six-volume commentary on Sahih Muslim), Fatawa Usmani, An Introduction to Islamic Finance, and his widely acclaimed Qur’an translations and commentaries (Tauzeeh al-Qur’an in Urdu and The Noble Qur’an in English). His scholarship has shaped the development of Islamic banking worldwide, guiding financial institutions to operate in accordance with Shari‘a principles.
