Furthermore, it is necessary that we understand that it has been determined that the fundamental principal is that the woman works within her home, and that her work outside of the home is the exception, and that this stands in accordance with proofs of the Islamic legislation. Thereafter it is not for us, after that, to have any free choice between adherences to this, or leaving it, if we are, in truth, Muslims. As Allah has said It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any opinion in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error (Surat al-Ahzaab36) And this verse, even if it was revealed concerning a specific issue, then its meaning is general. Moreover it comes after the revelation of the verses which command the women of the Prophets household, may Allah's praise and salutations be upon him, with the practice of staying in their homes. Indeed Allah has made it very clear that to leave His revealed way and legislation, and turning away from it is a definite cause without and doubt of the wretchedness like the state of most of the nations on Earth today. Whosoever turns away from My Reminder. Then verily, for him is a life of hardship (Surat Taa Haa 124). And verily the state of the nation which already has the correct way then abandons it, choosing to search among the scraps and garbage of the opinions of men, is like the saying of the poet, like the dweller in the desert who strikes down into the earth due to his thirst, yet the water is already there running openly above its surface (Lecture The role of the Woman in the Up-bringing Education of the Family) by Sheikh Saalih al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him.
