About The Author & Translator

Jamal-Un-Nisa Bint Rafai

Dr. Jamal-un-Nisa spent her every waking hour in the service of the community, teaching Islamic and Qur'anic studies, in her own house and in other locations around South West London. Women like her are rare gems, who appear once in a generation. Not one to boast about her knowledge or attention seeking or spending time in idle talk and gossip, Dr. Jamal-un-Nisa was a disciplined and focussed lady, who from an early age had supported her own family after the death of her father and completed a PhD in Zoology and spent her life learning and teaching, inspiring others and training a whole generation of teachers of Islam who went on to teach others in their own families and communities. She was also the author of the landmark 'The Qur'an: Translation & Study Juz' series of books and also the author of the children's Islamic Quiz book series, all published by Ta-Ha Publishers. She also edited and compiled the Al-Furqan Newsletter, which was published and freely distributed by Taha Publishers throughout the 80s and 90s.
