A critical study of Maulana Mawdudi's Khilafat-O-Mulukiat

This is a critical study which deals with all the historical changes and institutional developments giving due attention to the views of Muslim political thinkers such as Mawardi Baghdadi al-Juwayni Ibn Taymiyyah Ibn Khaldun Shah Waliyullah etc. whose views are somehow unanimous regarding the insititutional development of the office of Khilafah. They base their views on the Qur'anic text Prophetic Hadith and historical developments. All these primary sources which are the basis of this thesis annihilate Maulana Mawdudi's views on Khilafah and Mulukiah (Monarchy.)

The approach adopted in this study is to discuss all the sources quoted by Maulana Mawdudi. First an attempt is made to see the original sources available on the subject (Qur'an & Hadith.) Second an analysis is made through Maulana Mawdudi's quoted sources. Third the Muslim political & juristic writings together with institutional developments have been discussed.
