Yasin & Al-Qasam Surahs

YA SIN & AL-QASAM SURAHS is a double CD compilation of Qur’ānic chapters opening with Allāh’s invitation to reflection and contemplation by swearing on different aspects and qualities of His creation.

CD 1 Yā Sīn. By the Qur’ān, full of wisdom (Yā Sīn), by those [angels] lined up in rows (Aṣ-Ṣāffāt), by those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing (Adh-Dhāriyāt), by the mount (Aṭ-Ṭūr), and by the star when it descends (An-Najm).

CD 2 By those [winds] sent forth in gusts (Al-Mursalāt), by those [angels] who extract with violence (An-Nāziʿāt), by the sky containing great stars (Al-Burūj), by the sky and the night comer (Aṭ-Ṭāriq), by the dawn (Al-Fajr), by the sun and its brightness (Ash-Shams), by the night when it covers (Al-Layl), by the morning brightness (Aḍ-Ḍuhā), by the fig and the olive (At- Tīn), by the racers, panting (Al-ʿĀdiyāt), and by time (Al-ʿAsr).

The surahs are recited by Shaykh Mishary Rashed Al-Afasy and are presented in Riwāyah Khalaf ʿan Ḥamzah (style of recitation) with great profundity that demonstrates his engagement with the verses and the style itself. The Riwāyah has its own intricacies in tajwīd rules. Of the most noticeable are the frequent occurrences of sakta (calculated short pauses in recitation) and the joining of two sūrahs read as one continual recitation without reading of the basmallāh. This is with the exception of Sūrah Mursalāt (track 7) due to the ayah of prostration (Sujud at-Tilāwah) at the ending of Sūrah An-Najm (track 6).
