Nahw Mīr from Persian to Urdu. The work consists of twenty lessons detailing the intricacies of Arabic grammar and outlining the richness of the Arabic language.
Throughout history, thousands of Muslim scholars [ʿUlama’] in the Indian Sub Continent and Central Asia have commenced their studies with the work ‘Nahw Mir’. When the study of the Persian language dwindled in India, many scholars took it upon themselves to translate this work into the Urdu language.
With the introduction of the Niẓami Syllabus among English speaking people, the need arose for a simple translation of this concise yet immensely beneficial text. This text is preferred over modern grammar books because of its simplicity and brevity.
The second edition features charts summarising the main lessons in the book, as well as an addendum covering additional grammatical rules.
The work ‘Nahw Mir’ is authored by al-Sayyid al-Sharif ʿAli b. Muhammad al-Jurjani [740 – 816 AH] who was born in the city of Jurjan on the 22nd of Shaʿban in the year 740AH. He attained his religious education from the foremost authorities of his time, namely al-ʿAllama Mubarak Shah and al-ʿAllama Akmal al-Din Muhammad b. Mahmud al-Babarti. Under the guardianship of such reputable luminaries, he became known by two epithets; “al-Sayyid al-Sanad” and “Mir Sayyid”.
