At The Islam Shop Ltd, we embrace the profound Islamic teachings regarding the benefits of supplication, forgiveness, charity, and Hajj for the deceased, drawing guidance from both the Quran and the Hadith. According to Allah's words in Surah al-Hashr (59:10), believers are encouraged to pray for forgiveness for themselves and their brethren who preceded them in faith. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized the significance of seeking forgiveness for others, particularly the deceased, during funeral prayers.

Regarding charity, the Hadith narrates instances where the Prophet approved of individuals giving in charity on behalf of their deceased loved ones, acknowledging the ongoing reward such acts generate for the departed souls. This extends to Hajj, where the Prophet likened paying off a debt owed to Allah through Hajj to settling a debt for one's mother.

While there is a weak hadith concerning prayer on behalf of the dead, scholars unanimously agree on the efficacy of giving charity for the benefit of the deceased. Al-Nawawi asserts the consensus on the permissibility and effectiveness of charitable acts on behalf of the deceased, despite the weak hadith.

At The Islam Shop, we encourage and facilitate ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) for the deceased through various avenues, including contributing to charitable projects like building mosques, disseminating knowledge through printed materials, and supporting seekers of knowledge financially. The dissemination of knowledge is viewed as an ongoing charitable act, as affirmed by the Hadith stating that beneficial knowledge is among the deeds that continue to benefit a person after death.

To participate in these charitable endeavors or dedicate them to a deceased loved one, please contact us via email. We express our gratitude to all contributors who play a pivotal role in making our publications possible, ultimately benefiting our cherished readers. Your support enables us to continue our mission of spreading knowledge and fulfilling the ongoing charity obligations prescribed by Islam.

The Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ said,

When a person dies, his deeds come to an end, except for three: ongoing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah), the knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him. (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim)
